I have been making fretless and flush fret banjos with the object being
to make a basic, almost primitive banjo similar to the ones common around
the Civil War era. I also wanted to come up with a banjo that had a
good sound and would be very playable for clawhammer style. These banjos have been very popular with Civil War Reenactors and Living
History folks. The banjos have a 13" three-ply white oak pot, maple neck, calfskin
head, violin type tuners with tapered holes that work very well, and nylon
strings. (For an additional $8.00, a standard mechanical 5th string tuner
can be used if preferred.) The neck is scooped in order to give plenty
of room for frailing and still keep close action where the neck is played.
The neck is chunky near the heel for stability and wide at the nut. Buyer pays flat rate of $18.00 for shipping within the continental US
(includes insurance). Rates vary for international shipments. Free counters provided by Andale. |
